August 1-4

Snoqualmie Falls/Fall City

This place has some amazing scenery.  Steve has been to the Salish Resort Restaurant on the Snoqualmie Falls several times while working for Parker and traveling to Boeing   Said the falls were spectular so here we are.

We went to the visitor center in the evening to see the falls and yes, they are spectular.  As we were getting out of our Jeep the people that parked next to us were talking about the herd of Elk they had just seen.  The lady was very excited and told us how to get to the location to see them. With a little help from Google Maps we went to see the Elk.  There were about 120+ in the green grassy field and some bull Elk that had great racks.  Of course we only had our phones so we didn't get any good pictures.  We have gone back the last 2 nights armed with our cameras and the Elk have not been close enough to get very good pictures, but we got one that will work.

On Sunday we went to the Pacific Raceway for the first NHRA, drag race, that we have ever been to, even thought we only lived a few miles from where the races were held in So Cal.  One of the major racers is from the Yorba Linda area and Steve has been to his shop for car shows, etc., in the past.  Our friends Glen and Tobey are season ticket holders and flew in from St. George for the race.  We met up at the race and Glen educated us on drag racing.  We had a fun day.

We went to check out the Elk again after getting back from the race and met a couple of guys that were there to elk watch.  Talking to them got us a recommendation for a local restaurant, so on the way back to our camp site we stopped for dinner at the Woodman Lodge Restaurant.  We had a great dinner and an even better time talking to the restaurant staff.  We would highly recommend that if you are in the area stop in for dinner.

This morning we hunted down a barber for a hair cut, found the hardware store we were looking for and stopped along the road for blackberry picking. You would not believe the blackberry bushes and they are loaded.

We have found ourselves ahead of schedule for our arrival date for Whidbey Island so tomorrow morning we are heading for the Olympic Penisula for a couple of days.  We have heard this is a beautiful place from our RV neighbor, the people at the restaurant, my sister, and Tobey even brought  us a write up from Sunset Magazine, so, it is meant to be.
