August 5-9

We didn't make it to Olympic Penisula, we are disappointed with that.  We had a very nice dinner Sunday night at the Woodman Lodge and planned to leave for Olympic Penisula on Monday until we discovered that Steve left his credit card at the restaurant.  That is a first, ever.  When we called Monday to go get it we discovered they were closed until 4 p.m. Tuesday.  Needless to say we retrieved the credit card on Tuesday, had the temporary hold removed and since we could not make it to Olympic we decided to head for Baker Lake Wednesday morning.  We didn't make that destination either.

We had a small accident with our fishing reels, I ran over them with the Jeep, so, we made a stop at the Cabelas to replace them.  We now have brand new reels on our rods.

8 miles from Cabelas the dash lit up with a check engine light and the temperature gauge was at 240.  Steve immediately took the next off ramp into a large gas station and checked out the situation.  It turned out to be a broken idle pulley.  We had the MH towed to the Freightliner Service center in Mt. Vernon and there we sat until 7:30 Thursday night when all was fixed and we could hit the road again.  Turns out we were less than an hour from our campground on Whidbey Island.  We got here in daylight and are still on schedule.  Amazing the friends you make in the Freightliner parking lot!

Friday we spent the day checking out where Steve needs to go to catch his fishing charter, found the Weaving School in Coupeville and drove to the other end if the island to see if we wanted to take the ferry across to Everette.  Decided that was a long drive.

Sat morning we left camp at 8 a.m. For our Future of Flight tour at the Boeing facility in Everette.  the tour was very interesting.  Boy are those planes big when they are in pieces.  After the tour we had lunch at the pier at Arnie's.  Steve has been there before while at Boeing on business.  Great food.

We drove into downtown Seattle for the Underground Tour.  Man let me tell you the traffic was horrible.  I was so stressed by the time we got there.  You would think I had not lived in So Cal for 40 years and drove the freeways every day.  I love living in St. George :).  The tour was interesting and amazing how Downtown Seattle was raised above sea level.  We tried to go to Pike Place Market, but could not find parking.  Another visit!
